Rimmel London Make-up tutorial with Ling

Hey girls! Today with the help of Rimmel London's professional makeup artist, Ling, we are going to teach you how to transform from an everyday plain Jane to catwalk super darling! With the pre-selection rounds around the corner, this tutorial will be able to give you a head start on the competition.

Before you start, it is important to prep your face by making sure it is cleansed, toned and moisturized. A clean and oil free face will enable the makeup to transfer easily on to your skin and last longer.

Step 1:

Apply a Rimmel London liquid foundation of your choice onto your face with your fingers, as this makes application easier as the heat from your finger tips will help the foundation melt and settle into your skin.

Make sure to blend in well so that the foundation are even on your face. Remember to use it sparingly and only on troubled areas for a cleaner and refreshing feel.

Step 2:

Next use a concealer, to hide blemishes and dark circles. A concealer brush is used to blend and evenly distribute the concealer on troubled areas.

Step 3:

For the finishing touch, add press powder with a powder brush. Apply the press powder in a slow pressing motion to avoid your foundation from streaking.

Step 4:

The final step for the foundation is to contour your face. By using a press powder that is one shade darker than your skin tone and a contouring brush you will be able make your face appear slimmer ad smaller. Apply the press powder on your jawline and to your inner cheekbones. Remember to create faint and natural lines.

Step 5:

Moving on to your eyes. Use a black eyeliner to line the your lash line. This will enable your lashes to look fuller and darker.

Step 6:

After you have successfully lined your lash line, apply an eyeshadow color of your choice to your eyelids. Start with the outer corners and slowly work your way inward. Always apply a white eyeshadow as your base so that the colour of your selected eye shadow will pop. Ling has chosen a dark purple to complement the models fair skin tone.

Step 7:

Use a blending brush to blend the darker and lighter colours together. Here Ling has used a greyish black for the lower eyelids. It is important that the colour is blended to soften the edges.

Step 8:

To make your eyes appear larger and to complete your eye make-up it is important to curl your lashes so that they appear longer. As Ling has highlighted in her interview, the lash curler is a must-have tool. Be sure to curl your lashes in three steps - inner lash line, middle and end of your lashes for a smooth lifting effect.

Step 9:

After you have curled your lashes, apply a Rimmel London mascara of your choice. Here Ling has chosen to use two types of mascaras with different brush-tips (Sexy Curves & Volume Flash The MAX) to give the lashes extended length and extra volume. Apply a generous amount of mascara on both your top and bottom lashes.

Step 10:

Draw and fill in your eyebrows with a Rimmel London eyebrow pencil, with colour of your choice. Remember to start darker at the outer corner of your eyebrows and lighter as you more inwards. This ensures that your eyebrows will appear more natural.

Step 11:

Apply a peachy blush to the apple of your cheeks, in a sweeping upward motion.

Step 12:

Line your lip with a nude lip pencil to contour the shape of your lip. Next, use a Rimmel London lip color of your choice to fill in your lips.

The result of the makeup session was a great success! Ling has transformed our model with the help of Rimmel London products! This showstopping look will surely turn heads at the Rimmel London search.

Now that you have heard and learnt from the professiona, its time to get to work! Remeber, practice makes perfect!

Good luck and see you on the 16th of May for the pre-selections!
